Philip Cohen, “Fertility, family policy, and the ‘Great Replacement'”

January 9, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Thursday January 9th, 12-1:30pm, Haines 279

Abstract: Birth rates are falling in many countries, including the United States. And White supremacists are mobilizing against immigration on fears of a “Great Replacement” of Europeans. Is our population heading for a death spiral? Does the United States have a family policy, and how does it relate to fertility? In this talk, Professor Cohen will discuss fertility trends and population projections, and their implications for politics, policy, and demography.
